Counseling

Helping children and teens

The Counseling Process

Our counseling process consists of several steps, including an initial interview where parents, and children (if age-appropriate) present concerns. A detailed history is completed, and evaluations may be recommended. Finally, our counselor and family members will work together to form an action plan for improvement, both individually and as a family unit. We use several methodologies, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
We use CBT as an intervention of choice for a number of concerns, especially for difficulties regulating feelings, including anxiety, depression, and anger. CBT can help your child (and you) “retrain your brain.”

  • Parent Training
Children don’t come with operating manuals. It’s important to add tools and skills to your parenting toolbox to help manage specific behavior challenges in your child.
